Bolivia Expedition #3: August 25 - September 15, 2007 August 29, 2007 AAI guide Mark Johnson left the following message at 4:30am this morning (Pacific time): Hello everyone! It's early in the morning on August 29. I couldn't get a signal last night to leave a dispatch on yesterday's trek, so I'm calling in this morning to give you an update. Yesterday we left camp and hiked up to Taquesi Pass first thing in the morning. It was a personal altitude record for both Bill and Jack! We also saw a condor on the way down the pass! It came up on the breeze from the valley below - very cool. We then hiked down the other side of the pass on the old Inca road to the village of Taquesi. The village was pretty quiet, and so we hiked on to our camp, which was just a little ways further. We had camp set up by 3pm. Everyone did very well today, and we all enjoyed better weather than the day before, with just mild wind and some clouds. I will try to call again tonight, but I am unsure if I will get a signal down in the canyon where we'll be tonight. Until then!
