Bolivia Expedition #1: June 2 - 23, 2007 June 11, 2007 "It's 8am on a beautiful sunny morning. The day before yesterday we went out to Lake Titicaca and took a boat to the island of Suriki, where we climbed to the top of a small peak on the island. We had great views of the entire Cordillera - from Anconhuma and Illampu in the north to Illimani in the south. It was really beautiful. After we descended, we took the boat back to the mainland, ate lunch, then drove up to the start of the Condoriri and camped at 14,000 feet. Yesterday we spent a few hours hiking up the valley then established a beautiful campsite and practiced skills. The weather so far has been perfect. We're at 15,400 feet now. We plan on doing more skills today, then perhaps will 'attack' our first peak tomorrow. Other than that, everyone is strong, healthy, and the trip is flying by! Hopefully this good weather trend will continue. We'll be in touch." |
